(Not) A Destination? Images and Stereotypes of Russia in Postmodern Thematic Literature
Abstract
The book Literarische Russlandbilder: Konstruktion von Selbst- und Fremdbildern in der russischen und russlandbezogenen Literatur der Transformationszeit by Yvonne Drosihn invites readers to intensively reflect on the usage of generalized images of the land and nation unconsciously taken up in our daily lives. The interdisciplinary research following the principles of literary studies, psychology, sociology and ethnology focuses on stereotypes in postmodern literature. One will get to know how thought patterns about Russia are built, how they arise and get connected to one another as well as numerous details about their usage and interpretations in postmodernism in reference to previous mental representations of the East in Western society.
